Here's some stuff I kind of borrowed from George Kachergis's web site (my layout and style closely resembles his, too). I'll get around to changing it eventually.
Interests
News
- /. - (Slashdot) News for nerds, from nerds. Hardcore.
- Democracy Now! - Really great independent news organization. They do their own research, show you things you wouldn't see anywhere else. HIGHLY reccommended. It's occasionally a bit liberal, but not too bad.
- Google News - Google news, automatically generated, good general news stuff.
Random Entertainment
- Fark.com - A usually entertaining news site. Lots of stupid stories, but sometimes funny.
- Home Star Runner - Wholesome, quality entertainment
- The facebook - If you're a college student it's a great way to waste time checking up on friends and such. Pretty much a big social networking site for college students.
Reference
Natural Language Processing
- AAAI - American Association for Artificial Intelligence Topics, a great overview of different areas of Artificial Intelligence, including excellent references and textbooks
- ACL - Association for Computational Linguistics, professional organization with resources, conferences, papers, etc.
- NLP Software Registry - A whole bunch of open source natural language tools.
- CS 357 NLP - Home page for my Natural Language Processing class
- Pheonix Parser - An open source context free grammar parser. It's pretty good, developed at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
- Link Grammar - An open source implementation of Link grammar. A good resource for link grammars, an alternative to the usual generative grammars. It includes an online parser to play with.
Data Mining and Machine Learning
- CS 377 Data Mining - Home page for my Data Mining class.
- UCI Machine Learning Repository - A nice big ole bunch of datasets to test various machine learning and data mining techniques.
Programming:
- W3Schools - A great resource for web based languages. Good tutorials and references for php, html, sql, etc.
- Programming Tutorials - Just a whole bunch of tutorials for different programming languages.
- CPAN.org - Need I say more? Everything you need that somebody else has already done in perl.
- Java API(local cache) - Pretty much what it says, java api.
- C++ Standard Library - Reference for C++ library functions.
Web stuff:
- Google - The search engine. I even 0wn a teensy bit of their stock.
- Open Directory - Completely free web directory (unlike Yahoo! and others). They believe the web is reaching a point where search engines will no longer be able to return useful results. Me? In Google I trust.
- Wikipedia - Free online encyclopedia built by the web community.
Friends
- Amrit Tuladhaar - A fellow Carleton student and aspiring roboticist. My favorite Newar/Nepali.
- George Kachergis - Another Carl, computer science/cognitive science special double.
