The Long Tail

February 7th, 2006

Are you a big fan of Amazon or Netflix? Yes? Then you should continue reading. Ever heard of power laws and economics of scarcity? No? Then, ideed, you should really go on and read my essay about the Long Tail!

The Long Tail as a proper noun has a relatively young history. Chris Anderson used this term - already known in statiscal sciences - in an article in the WIRED magazine to describe fascinating and maybe drastic economic effects and possibilities of the internet.
So, if you want to know more about the term “Long Tail” itself and about how e-commerce might be working in future, you should check out the essay I have written for my We Media class at Carleton.

Art Guerilla

February 1st, 2006

Art Guerilla is a project I will be working on with Khanh for the next couple weeks. The project is part of our “We Media” class at Carleton College. Each student is supposed not only to read and talk about the digital media revolution and concepts like citizen journalism, but rather to do “We Media” himself.

So, Khanh and me brainstormed a little bit and decided that it would be interesting to do a videocast project about the “art scene” here at Carleton. We chose the name “Art Guerilla”, because art life in our area - beside the campus and the Twin Cities - is not very big and exist rather in the “underground”. So, we are fighting for bringing more art to more people.

You want to know more about it all? Then listen to the Art Guerilla pitch!
